Rapper The Jacka has died after he was gunned down in Oakland, California on Monday night (02Feb15).The 37-year-old musician, real name Dominic Newton, was shot by an unidentified gunman and transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No suspects had been identified as WENN went to press and a $20,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the killer.
Tributes have flooded in from members of the hip-hop community including Nipsey Hussle and The Game, who wrote in a post on Twitter.com, "R.I.P. to my nigga The Jacka."
The Jacka started his music career in the late 1990s as a member of rap group Mob Figaz before launching a solo career in 2001. He later owned a label called The Artist Records.
